GUZAN HAPPY WITH LAMBERT'S PLANS

Brad Guzan claims Paul Lambert is
building 'something special' at Aston Villa
and the fans will see the benefits in the
coming years.
The United States goalkeeper has enjoyed a
run in the side under Lambert's leadership this
season after a man-of-the-match display away
against Newcastle United in the third Premier
League match of the campaign on September 2.
And, having kept veteran Shay Given on the
sidelines since, Guzan has now spoken out to
back the managerial methods of Lambert by
suggesting that he is looking to put in place
the foundations for a successful team long into
the future as opposed to a quick-fix following
last season's struggles.
He told the club's website: "I was excited about
the changes at the club and what was going to
happen with the players and where the
manager wanted to take the club and the
direction he wanted to take it.
"It's been good so far. We are definitely a club
that have no longer just got an aim for the
short-term, but also the long-term as well.
That's a good sign for everyone.
"There's a changing of the guard, if you will -
in terms of bringing in younger players. We
want to win games and move our way up the
table and have a good year this year obviously.
"Ultimately it's going to pay off in a few years
down the road. It's not a one-year plan and let's
go off, we want to build something special."
