CABAYE BID DENIED

Alan Pardew says Tottenham did not make
an offer for Yohan Cabaye despite the
Newcastle midfielder's claims they wanted
to sign him.
Cabaye had been quoted as saying he had the
chance to sign for Spurs but turned it down
because he believes Newcastle is the place to
be under the leadership of Pardew.
However Pardew says Tottenham did not make
a bid and Cabaye never had the chance to
make a decision over a move. Pardew does
accept his star players will attract attention
though and says doing well in the Premier and
Europa League will increase their chances of
keeping hold should rival clubs come knocking.
"There was no offer from Spurs so he didn't get
that opportunity but of course the likes of
Yohan and others will be courted by top sides,"
said manager Pardew.
"That's natural. What is important is the
development of players and that they develop
here and it is important we give them a
platform for success.
