FORMER TUNISIAN CHAMPIONS ETOILE DU SAHEL DISQUALIFIED FROM CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

    After a review of the game between Etoile and local rivals Esperance of Tunisia, the desciplinary committee has found Etoile du Sahel fans guilty of throwing firecrackers, field invasion and missile throwing all during the game. Although Esperance won the game by 2 goals o nil, they were attacked by Etoile fans in a closed game open only to home fans. The committee quoted that according to Article  7 paragraph 6 of the rules governing the tournament: 'If the referee is forced to stop the match before the end of the regular time because of invasion of the field or aggression against the visiting team, the host team shall be considered loser and shall be eliminated from the competition, without prejudice to the sanctions existing in the regulations'.
  The group has now been rearranged with Nigeria's Sunshine FC sharing the top spot with Esperance of Tunisia while Algeria's ASO Chlef are left without a point. Good decision huh.
